How Death May Affect a QDRO

General Information If a Participant or Alternate Payee Dies

  • If a participant dies before the Qualified Order Center has received an order, the order may still be submitted for the Qualified Domestic Relations Order (QDRO) review process.
  • If a participant dies after the Qualified Order Center receives an order, we'll continue with the QDRO review process.
  • If an alternate payee dies before an order is approved, we won't continue with the QDRO review process.
